Nascido em Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, filho de um diplomata ganaense, David Adjaye viveu em vários países. O magazine do Wall Street Journal atribui-lhe recentemente a distinção Architecture Innovator 2013. É o arquitecto por trás do novo museu da Smithsonian Institution em Washington, o National Museum of African American History and Culture, que irá abrir em 2015.
My father articulated a set of ideals to me, always very softly. Just certain points about being strong about your identity, about who you are and not being intimidated by other cultures. And to understand that there's a world that exists beyond national boundaries.
