The Catholic Monarchs decreed the imprisonment of Christopher Columbus after ruling that he had engaged in abuses of power in the Indias. He, in response, requested an audience with Queen Isabella, the Catholic, to explain his acts and attempt to attain his acquittal.

La Reunión takes advantage of this historical fact to develop a fiction reflecting upon the behaviours of humans when in positions of power.

La Reunión was written and produced by Trinidad González for the Teatro en el Blanco Company and explores themes such as the demands made by the indigenous peoples, the powers of the Church and the ruling oligarchy as well as class struggle. As with previous performances, the Company created a stage scene free of excessive scenographic features in order to focus attention on the work of the actor and a script that speaks to the audience about being human and our universal nature.

This is a play about the conflict between truth and power and ambition and inventiveness, about how the different genders occupy positions of power. This also represents one of the finest of examples in theatrical representation by excellent actors and already known to the Next Future audience for their play Neva, presented on the stage of the Gulbenkian Main Auditorium in 2010.
