JOSÉ TOLENTINO MENDONÇA was born in 1965. He took a doctorate degree in Theology at the Universidade Católica Portuguesa (Lisbon), with a thesis that applies literary analysis to the biblical text. He is currently professor of Biblical Studies at the Theology Faculty of the same university and develops research on the New Testament. He directs the Didaskalia and the National Secretariat for Pastoral Culture. He is a poet and translator.
